If you read the preceding post, "Sunday Drive," I imagine that essay by Pat Boone gave you plenty to think about. Personally, I agree wholeheartedly with his assessment because I see it happening more and more everyday.

In my constant quest to share some fascinating takes on the current state of affairs, I offer you this fresh piece from singer/thinker Pat Boone. This is one of those "That can't really happen... can it?" type of essays. You'll have to draw your own conclusions, after you read it, but Pat gives you plenty to think about. Are we blind, nuts or just stupid?

There is an Orwellian aspect to the state of the American union today. In George Orwell's chilling, foreboding account of a future society, in which a Big Brother government controls literally everything, ordinary individuals and families live in a regimented, classless, colorless world, afraid or unable to question, much less dissent.

(From The American Spectator) In its rush to slur conservatives prior to the Tax Day Tea Party rallies, the Obama administration's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued an "intelligence" assessment entitled Rightwing Extremism [RE]: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment. One is compelled to question if, in its paranoia, the current occupants of our federal government's Executive Branch intend to restore to a list of potential domestic extremists and threats the name of John Winston Ono Lennon?

Over the weekend, On CNN's "State Of The Union" with John King, Democratic Strategist James Carville and Conservative radio host Bill Bennet took sides on last week's Tea Parties and remarks made by David Axelrod. Carville, whose typical strategy is to say the exact opposite than is expected, was right on his game in saying that "Most Democrats are delighted with this—if anything it was harmless and somewhat damaging to Republicans."

CNN "reporter" Susan Roesgen is said to be on vacation after her ridiculous verbal attacks on Tea Party protesters last wednesday in Chicago. Meanwhile, back the CNN ranch, her bosses are pulling out all the stops to get a video that shows the real story pulled from YouTube. CNN has forced the takedown of the candid video shot by Andrew Marcus of Founding Bloggers, but the Internet is huge and thankfully, the video has been posted in multiple places. Kudos to Founding Bloggers.com for getting the scoop on what really happened after Roesgen's embarrassing performance and for challenging the Cable News Network's attempts to remove this video from YouTube - (Alas, This video may too become unavailable without notice).

Do the math. Approximately 800 Tax Day Tea Parties nationwide, with an average of 1,300 attendees each (most likely a conservative estimate, but no one knows for sure), and that's over one million angry fellow Americans, fed up with the the government is spending our money. With numbers like that, you have to expect a backlash from liberals who were caught totally off-guard by the success of the Tea Party movement, thus far. Even on the day of the events, President Obama claimed he was unaware of the TDTPs and certainly came off as convincingly clueless as to there purpose. So now enter the publicity seekers of the Hollywood left who see the Tea Parties are a great way to score some free press and face time on MSNBC with Keith Olberman.

Home to Corning Glass Works, Corning, NY is one of the smaller towns in Upstate NY. Total population is about 10,000, but On Tax Day, April 15th, an estimated 1,000 residents from Corning and neighboring areas gathered downtown for a Tea Party to protest higher taxes, and runaway spending by elected officials in Albany (capital city of NY) and Washington D.C. The event attracted folks from all political leanings, backgrounds and lifestyles.  On April 15th, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 angry  taxpayers participated in the nationwide Tax Day Tea Party movement  in downtown Corning NY. The event included music by "Grey Matter,"  and speeches by several locals effected by rising taxes and wasteful  spending in Washington DC and in the NY State capital of Albany. Here  are some photos and the first of two highlight videos.

After taking the new first pup for a walk, President Obama had to ask around the White House to find out what was going on across the street. According to Newsbusters: "The White House says the president is unaware of the tea parties and will hold his own event today," ABC's Dan Harris said on "Good Morning America" on April 15. What was his big event? Well, later in the day, he made a speech about explaining how he was working on simplifying the tax code.
