Liberals try In Vain To Paint Tea Parties As A "GOP Thing"

In attempt to try to distract their own from the reality that taxation effects all, some loud-mouths on the left are going to great extremes to label the Tax Day Tea parties a partisan issue. Obviously, those who back President Obama's radical agenda are more than a little concerned over the results of a poll taken two weeks ago that showed that 30% of Democrats surveyed not only supported the TDTP movement, but said they would attend one. Apparently a growing percentage of people who voted for Obama and waking up to the fact that this is NOT what they voted for.
Apparently a growing percentage of people who voted for Obama and waking up to the fact that this is NOT what they voted for.One of the latest shots has come in the form of an "analysis" of instances where Fox News has "promoted" the Tea Party events. According to a post at mediamatters.org, "Despite its repeated insistence that its coverage is "fair and balanced," and its invitation to viewers to "say 'no' to biased media," Fox News has frequently aired segments encouraging viewers to get involved with "tea party" protests across the country, which the channel has described as primarily a response to President Obama's fiscal policies."
While it may be true that Fox News has done a much better job of informing the public about the Tea Parties than the other networks, this is to their credit. As the TDTPs are not tied to a single political ideology, it is not Fox News that should be taken to task here, by organizations, such as MediaMatters. Rather than railing on Fox for reporting on an event tied to an issue that effects all Americans, they should be chastising the other major networks for choosing to mostly ignore the existence of the TDTPs.
The MediaMatters posting goes on to "document" several instances where Fox News has helped to get the word out on the TDTPs. One example from, the February 27th edition of On the Record, quotes host Greta Van Susteren saying," 'Tea party' protests are erupting across the country. Angry taxpayers, or at least some of them, are taking to the streets in the spirit of the Boston Tea Party. People are protesting President Obama's massive $787 billion stimulus bill, his $3.55 trillion budget and a federal government that has been ballooning by the day since the president took office." Where in that quote, or in any of the other supposed "smoking gun" quotes is there anything that says this is a Conservative movement? The term she used was "tax-payers." Are we to assume that it's not just Obama's cabinet picks that choose to not pay taxes, but rather ALL Obama supporters?
In every instance, MediaMatter ignores that fact that the TDTPs are are Anti-Stimulus Demonstrations against taxation without representation. This is not a partisan issue, just as the Boston Tea party was not a partisan issue, this is about taking back our government and that effects all Americans regardless of party affiliation.
Adding to fears from the radical left that these TDTPs just might take flight is a Fox News report posted yesterday with this quote from Jason Kang, VP of Marketing for custom online retailer Zazzle.com, "We like to think of ourselves as a cultural barometer for the country. This is probably one of the bigger things -- not counting the election -- that we've seen since the Spitzer 'Client 9'" sex scandal broke in 2008. Pro-Obama merchandise had been popular all of last year. In the last couple of months we've seen anti-Obama products begin to increase in popularity and sales numbers." Well, Obama campaigned for change, and it's beginning to look like he's getting it, in the form of changing attitudes toward his radical tax and spend agenda.
If anything, these petty arguments from a few not-so-well intentioned organization, clearly tied to the Obama Adminstration, should only motivate more people to attend the Tea Parties. This is an obvious attack on rights to free speech and congregate. Regardless of your political affiliation, it's time to let our Government know that you are T'ed off and you're not going to take it any longer.
